THEY CALL ME PONYBOY — Coming Soon
Inspired by true events:
Family, chaos, first love, street murals, heartbreak… and a kid trying to find beauty in the middle of it all.
“Ponyboy” — grows up in the cracks of San Pedro, surrounded by gangs, loss, and survival. But on the rooftops, with a paint can in his hand and a girl who changes everything, he discovers something deeper:
Art can heal.
Love can redeem.
Hope can survive anywhere — even where the world says it can’t.
They Call Me PONYBOY is raw, emotional, gritty autofiction… a memory painted in words.

About me
Hi there — I’m Poncie, an artist, writer, and storyteller. My art and words come from real life — from the streets that raised me, the people who shaped me, and the love that kept me going when life hit hard.
My first novel, They Call Me PONYBOY, is a story born from those roots — a mix of heartbreak, brotherhood, and hope. It’s inspired by true events and real emotions, painted with the same honesty and grit that I bring to my artwork. Through it, I wanted to capture what it means to grow up in a broken world and still find something beautiful.
These days, I live in San Antonio, Texas, with my wife — my sweetheart of 32 years. When I’m not writing, I serve as the Vice President of Guatemala for the Nations, helping provide Bible books to children across Guatemala. I also host a YouTube ministry called What Does the Bible Say? and lead Bible studies on Zoom and in coffee shops — teaching men to live out the words of Jesus.
Thanks for stopping by — and for being part of this story.
Hope. Art. Story. That’s what keeps me going.
Poncie, This can be very special my brother. Vivid descriptions, like you are painting with words! Again, this can be very special, please make sure you finish it!!! No red pencil needed.

Good chapter! Wow! I love this line haha, “My older brothers had a reputation, and you only crossed us if you had a death wish.” The story is very good and I remember you telling us some of that. Cool to see it dramatized as a story. I love the duality of the main characters. Ones home is dead quiet and the others is too crowded. Both characters fit together like yin and yang. The ending of the chapter is intense. Poor Michael Fox :(

Yooooo Ponyboy is really good!!!
No complaints. Felt like James Patterson books I use to read a lot in middle school & high school. Where every line was catching my attention at some point until the end of chapter. Then I’m like “what… Give me more. *goes to next chapter*

I really like it the descriptive words used provided great imagery and took me into your world feeling like I was there… Great descriptive word usage

Chapter 5. That was the best chapter yet. It was the perfect mix of story and description. I loved the entire chapter. I was telling Genesis as I was reading about when Mary said that Carol thinks you’re cute, and then I told Genesis heck yeah! But then I continued reading, and she said that she doesn’t date gangsters, and I was like uh oh. But that whole street life side of the story keeps me hooked. That was your best one by far in my opinion

Wow! It’s really well written and engaging, can’t wait to see what happens next! Poor Michael Fox, that part made my heart sink
Rebecca Rodriguez
